Kiwi Lime Pie
Kiwi Lime Pie is a refreshing and vibrant twist on the classic key lime pie, combining the tartness of lime with the tropical sweetness of kiwi.
This pie offers a perfect balance of tangy and sweet flavors, making it an ideal dessert for summer gatherings or any occasion where you want to impress with something a little different.
The creamy lime filling is complemented by a crisp graham cracker crust and topped with slices of fresh kiwi for a visually stunning and deliciously unique dessert.
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 10-12 graham crackers, crushed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 4-5 limes)
- 1 tablespoon lime zest (from about 2 limes)
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 cup heavy cream
For the Topping:
- 2-3 ripe kiwis, peeled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for sprinkling, optional)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
How to Make:
Prepare the Crust:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish to form an even crust. Use the back of a spoon or the bottom of a glass to press it down.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden. Allow it to cool completely before adding the filling.

Prepare the Filling:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the lime juice, lime zest, sweetened condensed milk, and egg yolks until smooth and well combined.
Pour the mixture into the cooled graham cracker crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center. Allow it to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully chilled.
Prepare the Topping:
Once the pie is chilled, arrange the kiwi slices evenly over the top of the pie.
If desired, sprinkle the kiwi with granulated sugar to enhance its sweetness.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired. Slice and serve the pie chilled. Enjoy the vibrant combination of flavors!
Chef’s Note: For an extra burst of flavor, you can lightly caramelize the kiwi slices with a kitchen torch or under the broiler for a minute or two. Be careful not to overdo it, as the kiwi can become mushy. You can also use other fruits like mango or strawberries as alternatives or additional toppings. If you prefer a less tangy pie, reduce the amount of lime juice slightly.
